The results were released on September 5, 2026, with a total of 512,862 candidates from 1,022 schools entered for the examination. The candidates comprised 225,270 males and 287,592 females, while 5,049 candidates (0.98%) were absent from the examination.

Social Studies recorded the highest A1–C6 performance among the four core subjects at 78.04%.

WAEC’s four year statistics also show how performance in the four core subjects changed between 2023 and 2026.

According to the WAEC statistics, performance in Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies varied during the four-year period. English Language, however, recorded a progressive decline, falling from 73.11% in 2023 to 62.40% in 2026.
Social Studies recorded a particularly strong improvement in 2026, rising from 55.82% in 2025 to 78.04% in 2026.
Results Withheld and Cancelled
Candidates should also be aware that not every result may be immediately available.
WAEC has published information regarding 2026 WASSCE withheld results and instructed affected candidates to use its irregularity platform for further information.
The press release states that the following actions were approved after investigations into examination irregularities:
- 7,434 candidates had their subject results cancelled for bringing foreign materials such as prepared notes, textbooks and printed materials into examination halls.
- 861 candidates had their entire results cancelled for possession of mobile phones in examination halls.
- 957 candidates had subject results withheld for various suspected offences.
- 270 candidates had their entire results withheld.
- Some subject results involving candidates from 169 schools remained withheld because of alleged collusion.
The cases involving withheld results were still under investigation, with decisions to release or cancel the results dependent on the outcome of the investigations.
Candidates whose results have been cancelled or withheld should follow WAEC’s instructions and check the official irregularity platform rather than relying on unofficial sources.
Beware of Fake WASSCE Result Upgrade Offers
Candidates should be careful when dealing with people who claim they can upgrade, change or improve WASSCE results for money.
WAEC has repeatedly warned candidates and stakeholders about fraudsters. Results should be checked through official WAEC channels, and candidates should not give their examination credentials to unknown individuals.
