The PRC Oath Taking Ceremony is a formal event organized by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) of the Philippines where newly licensed professionals officially take their Professional Oath before they can practice their profession.
What It Is
The oath taking is a mandatory requirement for all board exam passers before they can receive their Certificate of Registration (COR) and Professional Identification Card (PIC).
It is an official pledge to uphold the ethical standards, laws, and responsibilities of one’s profession.
It is led by the Professional Regulatory Board of the specific profession.
Why It’s Important
Without taking the oath, a passer cannot be legally registered with PRC.
It signifies the transition from being a student/examinee to a licensed professional.
It is both a legal and symbolic act, affirming commitment to serve society responsibly.
How It’s Done
Schedule & Venue:- PRC announces oath taking schedules either online (via LERIS) or at regional offices.
Types of Oath Taking Ceremonies & Their Schedules
Ceremonies may be Face to Face or Online/Virtual
Online/Virtual:- Since 2020, PRC also offers online oath taking through Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
Because of geographic constraints or in response to public health considerations, PRC often allows new professionals to take their oath via online ceremonies. These are typically scheduled on specific dates and times, with registration ahead of time through the PRC’s online system.
The online oathtaking for new Nurses was scheduled on August 19, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.
The online oathtaking for new Professional Teachers is set for August 29, 2025, at 10:00 A.M.
The online oathtaking for new Physicians was scheduled on June 16, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. For dentists and dental hygienists, the online mass oathtaking was arranged for September 12, 2025, at 1:00 P.M, organized by PRC Iloilo.
For chemical engineers, their online special oathtaking was scheduled on August 26, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. via PRC Cebu.
Registration for the online oathtaking is done via PRC’s online system (LERIS / PRC online services), selecting “e-OATH” as the transaction type. The registration window usually closes several days before the ceremony date.
Participants are required to print out the “Oath of Professional” form and dress in formal or “gala” attire. A white backdrop, is often prescribed for online participants.
